2016 9-ball format

For the 2016 season, we will be playing a race format which does not allow for ties. In addition, the system will be handicapped so that the mixed skill levels of players in this division is offset somewhat.

The playing format will be a mix of singles and scotch doubles – race to 17.

8 singles followed by 4 doubles followed by 8 singles followed by 4 doubles followed by 8 singles. IF the night is tied at 16-16 at that point, a scotch team game (4 players vs 4 players) is played for the final game.

Each player in this division will be assigned a handicap from 0 to 3 (there will be very few 0s and very few 3s). A player with a handicap of 1 playing a player with a handicap of 2 gets a “gimme” of 1 ball off the final shot…. in other words, the lesser ranked player is assumed to have made the 9 if they sink the 8 (in an ordered run). This makes no difference in the normal play of the game,  winning on a combo is still by potting the 9-ball.
